EDIT: I finally finished it and I'm lowering my rating. I'm over an hour in and nothing has really happened. It's not what I was expecting at all. I have such secondhand embarrassment watching this, I just feel bad because it's so cringey. I think most of the characters are meant to be cringey but it's just not pleasant to watch. Kind of like watching the Kardashians if they had a ghost. And the ghost would be the most interesting character. More ghost, less bratty, spoiled characters would have helped. I'm not sure what can happen in the last 32 minutes that can save this movie. I had to make this review longer so I could submit it. Almost there. Ok, done.

A family made film. The insipid daughters are painful to watch and listen to; their voices are horrible; I kept wanting to choke them to talk properly. Nasty sinus voices are truly horrid to listen too. Clara takes entitled, peculiarity to a whole new level. The husband/father is a generally unpleasant whiner, who also has a voice likes his sinuses are plugged. Parents are stupid parents. What I took away from this film, at least from what I could stomach watching, is that a family needs affirmation and to be noticed so they made this ridiculous film. A horrible movie about a horrible family, with a horrible story I liked Ollie the dog.

Perfectly enjoyable film. not for the hollywood blockbuster sycophants. there are some cringeworthy (the good kind) moments, some laughs and some great emotional moments that break the cut and dry hollywood same'ol. probably not a great movie for people who'd rather analyse director shots rather than actually enjoying the story and getting lost in the moment.

Clara's Ghost has to be one of the most baffling films I've seen in recent memory. This isn't necessarily a bad thing, though. Though it doesn't fit neatly into any real genre, it's certainly never dull and the performances make it worthwhile. Everyone is on their A-game here with the entire Elliot family coming across rather well. The only way to describe this movie is like a mashup of Let's Scare Jessica To Death and Who's Afraid of Virginia Woolf, but with an entitled family of actors (save the matriarch who may or may not be having a mental breakdown.) Hayley Joel Osmet even shows up as a family friend who supplies weed to the family, which only causes things to get worse. Clara's Ghost is endlessly fascinating and unlike anything I've ever seen.

I wanted to like this movie mainly because I'm a fan of Chris Elliot who is in the film along with what appears to be his entire family. Unfortunately it's poorly written, amateurishly directed and pointless. Cartoon characters jabbering about this and that and hunny, you're not Woody Allen. You've had an entitled life and that doesn't qualify you to direct or write. Nothing here. Keeping on moving.

This movie is just weird and not in a good way. The lead actress was terrible and Chris Elliot as some multiple Oscar winning dramatic actor?!? Haha! I love Chris Elliot but, c'mon! What was the plot? I honestly have no idea because I could only get through 25 minutes of this and a film has to be VERY bad for me not to finish it.

I am so happy this film exists! It is really unique and there were many LOL Chris Elliot physical comedy moments. Some of my favorite and most memorable scenes were when the daughters were talking very candidly and saying things that I myself would never say around my parents. I hope there is a sequel!
