Brett Bentman's Texas Twister promises an exciting, action-packed ride through tornado-ravaged landscapes, but instead delivers a dull and preachy sermon on religion. If you're expecting heart-pounding chases and devastating weather, prepare for disappointment. There's hardly a single tornado in sight. The film tries to mask its lackluster plot with the pretense of exploring deep, philosophical themes. However, what it really offers is a meandering, painfully slow narrative that feels more like a church service than a cinematic experience. The story centers around a small Texas town and its residents, whose lives supposedly intertwine in meaningful ways. In reality, it's a collection of clichés about faith, doubt, and redemption, executed with all the subtlety of a sledgehammer. The characters are as flat and uninteresting as the landscape they inhabit. The enigmatic preacher, the central figure in this dreary tale, delivers sermons that are more tedious than thought-provoking. His monologues, filled with heavy-handed metaphors and moralistic drivel, dominate the film, leaving little room for actual plot development or character growth. Cinematographically, the film offers nothing new. The vast Texan plains are shot with a monotonous sameness that fails to capture any real beauty or significance. The soundtrack, an uninspired mix of hymns and folksy tunes, does little to elevate the dreariness of the film. Instead, it adds to the overall feeling of being trapped in a never-ending Sunday service. The pacing is glacial, dragging the viewer through endless scenes of existential angst and religious platitudes. Any potential for genuine drama or excitement is smothered by the film's pretentious attempts at profundity. The performances are equally lackluster, with actors seemingly as bored with their roles as the audience is likely to be. In the end, "Texas Twister" is a misnomer. There's no storm, no twist, and certainly no excitement. What could have been an interesting exploration of faith in the face of natural disaster is instead a tedious slog through uninspired dialogue and predictable character arcs. Brett Bentman might have intended to create a deep, philosophical film, but the result is a pretentious, plodding bore. Skip this one unless you're in desperate need of a nap.

First of all, I love "so bad they're funny" disaster movies, and that's what I was expecting here. I watched the entire movie, and through most of it I thought it made sense, with the plot being about a man slowly losing his grip on reality as he comes to terms with the death of his son. Not the disaster movie i was expecting, but the acting was reasonably good, and it was nice to see religion portrayed as the normal part of everyday life that it is for many people. I was interested to see if the main character would get the help he needed and recover at the end. Instead, the final scene is of his wife staring at a devastating tornado coming out of a blue sky. I don't know if the filmmakers were trying to say the main character was right all along, or if her husband's descent into madness finally got to the wife as well, but it was a frustrating, unexplained, unnecessary ending to a movie that had made sense, more or less, up to that point. The other bone I have to pick with the movie is that the timeline contradicts itself multiple times. At the beginning, we see the main character threatening himself and others, clearly delusional and hallucinating. We then get a flashback to "one week earlier". The man appears completely sane and is not showing any signs of mental illness. We see the couple's daughter saying that she had a tryout and gets to play a daisy in a school play (or dance recital-- not sure which). The main character then has his first hallucination of a tornado. Later in the movie, the school program happens and the mom tells her daughter she has worked on her part for "months". When the main character sees a doctor after being injured in a robbery, he is asked how long he's had trouble sleeping and he says "a couple weeks" which clearly doesn't fit within the timeframe of the film. It's possible he'd been having trouble sleeping before he had his first "vision" (hallucination), but the movie doesn't indicate that. The timeline issues just seem careless to me. Together with the ambiguous ending they left me wishing I hadn't bothered to watch.

Right, well I had never heard about the 2024 movie "Texas Twister" prior to stumbling upon and opting to sit down and watch it. And I was virtually under the assumption that I would be watching a natural disaster movie. So imagine my surprise when I realized that this movie was a drama about a man struggling with mental problems and inner demons. Yeah, talk about a swing and a miss. And the movie's cover most definitely leads you on with the promise of a natural disaster movie, with four twisters wrecking havoc upon a city. But don't be fooled, because the movie is overselling the movie by a landslide, and it has nothing to do with the snoozefest that is "Texas Twister". Writer and director Brett Bentman failed horribly to entertain me with this swing and a miss of a movie. I wasn't familiar with the cast ensemble in the movie, aside from John Schneider and Noel Gugliemi. But I will say that the acting performances were actually fair, despite the fact that the script and storyline was a dumpster fire. And it was quite a struggle to sit through, especially since it was nothing at all what I had imagined I would be in for. And this is most certainly not a movie that I would recommend for you to waste your time, money or effort on. Not worth the effort, and definitely not a movie that I will ever return to watch a second time. My rating of "Texas Twister" lands on a generous two out of ten stars.

3 of us watched it. 2 of us said "well that's and hour & a half I'll never get back." I forced myself to watch even though Drumpf lovin' MAGA man John Schneider is in it, playing a PASTOR!!! (Lord help us all!). It's mostly about a guy loosing his mind, imagining there's a tornado about to hit every time he turns around. This movie could have been better (let anyone but John Schneider play a minister) but I suppose it could have been worse. Like people say in these reviews quite a bit... I would have given this a zero rating if it had been a option..Skip this and wait for "Twisters" in theatres this summer.

I didn't get from that movie anything that i wanted. I expected some action and at least one tornado that would prove that main character ain't crazy. Promote a movie with tornado and not include it as an event is quite surprising thought. Somewhere in the middle of movie I was sure that main character will turn into Noe archetype. Having visions and nobody believes him and when time come he is ready for catastrophe with his self made bunker. Didn't turn like that... I feel that it is more psychological movie and for that I'm giving 3 stars bcz it is pretty good material to interprete and analyse.

This movie isn't about a tornado movie , but a guy who thinks that there's going to be a tornado. The movie is more of a psychological thriller with a guy who keep having dreams of a tornado and believes that its coming to him and his family. I found the movie to be misleading because don't show tornados on the poster if there's not tornados action to be found in this movie. Now, the psychological thriller could work if its title something else than what people think what its going to be. They also put religious in it with the main character think it has something to do with that, even though it made little sense. Most of the time it just the characters thinking that this guy is crazy and him keep going on about it. It makes the movie less enjoyable to watch And the ending is just the filmmakers trolling you. Overall, this is the worst disaster movie that I ever watch.
