I am not sure if I like/dislike the movie. It was just blah. Will I watch it again, absolutely not. I just don't know what kind of movie this is. Definitely not horror/thriller. It's not the worst film I've seen, and not the best I've seen. However I did like the message (in my own opinion/thoughts) the message I received it that no matter how smart or beautiful one is, deep down there is a lot of hurt and pain.

Here's something I was not expecting to like. Two attractive young women sharing accommodation: one, studious and ambitious and the other, superficial and gorgeous. To begin with, I was hard-pressed to tell much difference between them. Both are casually stunning and appear very happy in their individual skins; and that is why I wasn't sure I would see this film through - I dislike such blemish-free catwalk characters being passed off as 'everyday'. It's a stereotype. It fuels people's paranoia about themselves. It presents a false image, and it annoys me. Secondly, 'The Lodger/Roommate Wanted' is sold as a horror thriller. For a long time, I was waiting for anything horrific to show itself. By the end, I still think - despite some violence - I was somewhat mis-sold. With all that out of the way, I enjoyed this more than I thought I would. The two girls are exceptionally well-played and occasionally, it really seems as if the veneer exhibited by both of them (in their own ways) is about to be cracked - but it never really happens. The violence, nasty though some of it is, is cartoon-like. Any scars or blemishes dished out soon disappear. Even toward the end, after everything is superficially - that word again - trashed, they still speak to each other in cliché (early on, Janie professes to 'like' clichés), their stoically cutesy personality traits very much intact. I would have liked to see the comedy antics - some of which are genuinely quite funny - gradually dissipate as their fight went on. I would have liked to see the violence - both physical and mental - go further, instead of just being sporadically addressed before the two of them call another short-lived truce. Even the ending lurches back into caricature humour, which undoes much of the good work that had been done stripping them of their bravado. Perhaps Director Rob Margolies and writer Aaron Edward just weren't interested in making that kind of film. A shame, because if events had become more serious and more extreme, this could have been a really interesting project. My score is 5 out of 10.

If you're female, I think you'd laugh at it, too. I thought it was brilliant! War of the Roses-esque, with two young ladies. Some pretty good comedy, a touch of tragedy, the two actresses nailed their parts.

Going into this film I was expecting a serious horror film or thriller. On the other hand, the film might be a mixture of genres. Sometimes the film feels like a comedy, sometimes like a drama, and sometimes like a psycho thriller. In the case of Roommate Wanted you have a better than expected film that is a lot of genres in one big blender. The film can be best described as a dramedy about mismatched roommates who hate each other. You might be thinking to yourself that this does not sound like horror and you would be partly correct. However, when the film goes to the extreme it gets EXTREME. The film benefits from strong performances and from the fact that although it is a small movie, it looks great. The performances are really good. Honestly, the performances are the best part of the film. Alexa Vega is more than just a pretty face. She is talented, tough, a good actress, and I wish we could see her in more films. I also thought how even though there are only two real main characters, you can connect to them both. Meaning you can relate to both Alexa Vega's character and Spencer Grammar's character. What I didn't like about the film is the writing is a little off. Meaning, the script feels like there are parts that drag, feel like filler, and at times doesn't know what it wants to be. So these are my final B*tchin' Buddha thoughts on Roommate Wanted (2015). It is a film you are going to like, or a film you are going to hate. I honestly do not see too many people loving this, but I do see someone liking this. If you are looking for a simply minded horror, thriller, comedy, whatever it is. I think you will be pleased. I believe this film earns a 6 out of 10. If you have to completely different characters on display, it sometimes is very hard to pick which one you actually like to root for. In this case I thought I was rooting for the lesser evil of the two, the one that seemed to keep it as real as possible, instead of harboring anger and letting it explode almost without a reason. But if you're honest to yourself, both are as mean as it gets. Not that you wish them anything bad. You just don't care about them, which is not the best thing for a movie with two main characters who are on screen most of the time. Where is the connection? While you may be able to understand how the situation came to be, the extremes this goes are a bit much (which is actually an understatement).

What a piece of crap movie from start to finish, bad acting, bad plot, bad everything. And the cherry on top was the dog being killed by the snake. The dog was the only good thing about the movie. I am so angry for the time I wasted and then having to see that was incredibly upsetting. Why do people waste money making ridiculous movies like this? It was so bad, I can't go on enough about how about it was. I am literally mortified at how psychotic they were, it gave women off as absolute mental patients and I just shudder thinking back. I think I need to watch like 500 bad movies to get over the pain of this one. I don't think I've ever hated a movie enough to even bother writing a review.

The only reason I gave this movie two stars, rather than one is because I actually thought enough of the movie to sit through the entire movie in high hopes it would get better. The movie starts off with one roommate beating the crap out of the other and then it rewinds to earlier that day to explain why. After that, the plot maintains stability and interest for about 20 minutes. After that, the entire plot is a bit loose and quite boring. We have no idea how it came to be that these two mentally unstable and completely opposite lead characters decided to live together, obviously without even knowing each other at all beforehand. More history, rather than "We have 341 days left on the lease" would have been better for the movie's plot and its absent character growth. Have you ever watched the movie "Home Alone" and spent the entire movie wondering, just like I did, "How could this happen (that Culkin's character got left behind by his own mother)??!" Well, you are going to do the same thing for 95 minutes - only this time you will wonder how they became roommates in the first place. And just when you thought you have seen enough cat fighting, here comes the ending. And it's terrible. Just the horrible icing on an already poor cake. So, not only do you get no history between the characters, you are left with no future with them, either. A cross between "Single White Female" and "War of the Roses."
