The Hunt for Eagle One: Crash Point

The Strike Force team is back in this action-packed sequel to "The Hunt For Eagle One"! Terrorists have stolen a Ground Control Encoder, a new anti-hijack device that enables Air Traffic Control to lock out the pilot's instruments and fly a plane by remote control. When the military learns of the terrorists plans to use it to crash a jetliner into a secret U.S. Military Intelligence airbase in southeast Asia, The Strike Force team led by Lt. Matt Daniels is sent again into rebel territory to locate and recover the stolen Encoder before the terrorists carry out their threat. Can the Daniel's crew stop the impending world war?

I thought this was a good action movie with the exception of all the extra loud music, drums, bamboo noise in the background made it hard to hear what anybody was saying. I thought Matt decascos did an excellent job, his acting was realistic. I would like to see him in more movies. Theresa did a good job but a little slow in her acting and movement.

"The Hunt For Eagle One: Crash Point" is a step up from the first one. The plot this time around is about Al-qaeda. They have a nuclear device and only Lt. Daniels and Jennings (Dacascos and Randle) can stop them. Jeff Fahey plays their Commander. "Crash Point" has ten times more action. Dacascos gets to use his martial arts skill, even when his character can just shoot people. Randle handles the clunky dialogue well. The climactic chase with a helicopter and a bike, while very silly, works on a B-movie level. Fahey just yells a lot, but does a good job at that. Overall, "Crash Point" is better than the original, and I wouldn't be surprised if they made a third one. Maybe they can call it "The Hunt For Eagle One: Gitmo Strikes Back". THE HUNT FOR EAGLE ONE: CRASH POINT is the follow up to the original HUNT FOR EAGLE ONE film. These are war movies starring B-movie action hero Mark Dacascos and shot in the Philippines by long-time exploitation producers Roger Corman and Cirio H. Santiago. The first film was a drivelling mess of badly-directed nonsense, but to my surprise this sequel isn't too bad. Let's get this straight, however: by mainstream standards, this is poor. The storyline is hackneyed and predictable and the direction is hardly adequate. In addition, the acting is wooden across the board, including that of Theresa Randle (who returns from the first outing) and newcomer Jeff Fahey, who should know better. Even so, this is mildly entertaining to a degree. There's a greater emphasis on close quarter combat than in the first film, including a couple of decent fights between Dacascos and various villains. The violence has also been amped up, making this more of an all-round guy's flick. Hardly what I could call good, solid entertainment but it passes the time if you're in the mood.

This movie was on the TV at my automechanic while I was waiting for a car repair. This made the time go so much longer... if I didn't need the car repairs, I would have walked out simply because of this movie. It is just so bad. The acting is bad. The dialog is even worse. The accuracy is laughable. The constant repeats of the same stock footage is almost comical, if the movie just wasn't so bad. I've never reviewed a movie before, but I actually joined this site in the hopes that I could warn others away from spending their time watching this movie. I consider it my duty as a human being to keep people from getting dumber for having seen this. Unless you are 8 years old, this movie will make no sense to you and you will be sad for having wasted a part of your life by sitting through it. I am seriously considering a new automechanic now...

I like Mark Dacascos from Cradle to the Grave, but he was so much better in that movie. here is is just another emotionless grunt with some hoo yahs. The fact that there are no memorable quotes from this film is indication that there was no memorable dialog. There wasn't much dialog at all. It was just a bunch of shooting and some martial arts (very little). It actually seemed to be a vehicle for Theresa Randle (Bad Boys, Girl 6) to show how tough she could be. OK, you're tough. Now get some lines that are worth remembering.

A huge disappointment for any Mark Dacascos fan. Very little martial arts, just a lot of gun play and that is not why I watch Mark. We want to see shades of "The Base" and "Drive". This was a let down. That said, Mark can act and he does well given the script and the actors he has to work with. The action is pretty good if you like gun fights. The story is fun too, actually kind of clever in a impossible sort of way. The effects range from B right down to Z. But as I said the action is a solid B, its just not the sort of action I expect from Mark. I hope he starts doing marshal art based action movies again soon. He has too much talent to waste on this sort of project.

Simply put. This movie is absolute garbage. There is zero military accuracy whatsoever. There are all kinds of giant plot holes, holes so large you can drive a Mack Truck through. Everything is completely wrong with this movie from top to bottom. If I had to see one more piece of stock footage of that aircraft carrier or the jets flying to nowhere in particular, I think I would have vomited. Before you say to yourself, "This guy just hates it because he was in the Marines", let me explain: I can handle an inaccuracies in "military" movies, but honestly, I can't think of one thing they did right except for maybe calling their superiors "Sir". This film is a stinker. Don't even rent it on a lark, do not watch it if you see it coming on cable. You'll be dying to get the time you spent watching it back.

I've said it before in other reviews: action heroes shouldn't do these military team movies. Playing one part of a regulated squad – even the leader – is bound to result in a lot less screen time and focus on the star of the movie, and Mark Dacascos' role in CRASH POINT is no exception. This is an impersonal, unoriginal little adventure with very mild highlights, populated by characters I had a hard time caring about. In a word, it's overlookable. The story: When the leader of a murderous rebel alliance (Dick Israel) steals a new technology with which to hijack planes by remote control, a strike force led by Captain Matt Daniels (Dacascos) is dispatched to retrieve it. I haven't watched the original THE HUNT FOR EAGLE ONE, but if any of the returning characters were established there, they don't carry over much personality. Dacascos' immediate costar is Theresa Randle, and she has barely more luck than Mark and his three teammates at establishing herself. Jeff Fahey's here in an action-free role to supply on-off narration, and Joe Mari Avellana is utterly wasted in his do-nothing part. In its final quarter, the film manages to create at least some tension, but it's too little come too late, after I've sat through so many drawn-out shootouts that only served to disengage me. Said final quarter of the film also includes a decent fight between Mark and supporting villain Boy Roque, wherein Roque attacks with a knife and Mark counters with a computer keyboard. Beyond this, there's nothing to get excited about, though plenty of directorial weirdness to raise an eyebrow at. The movie is practically on life support through the grace of lifted footage. Some of it's stock footage, and the rest of it's clearly shots from bigger and better movies. Additionally, for some reason, almost all of the original footage has been edited to include a noticeable color contrast – giving the movie the same look that conventional flicks reserve only for flashback scenes. How odd. Luckily, this franchise seems to have run its course long before I even got to it, and I look forward to not watching any additional sequels. I don't recommend anyone else sees this one, either, unless you're completely out of other Dacascos material.

Picked this one up at the video store because I was looking for a nice shoot 'em, but also had a little hankering for some fu with my blood and guts. When I saw Mark on the box, I thought maybe I'd get both -- and this movie didn't disappoint. First off, Mark Dacascos kicks ass. BROTHERHOOD OF THE WOLF anyone? That said this movie had some sweet gun play in it as well. I particularly liked when Mark gets pinned down at the bombed out building and sprints the gauntlet to blow up the M-60. It was like LAST OF THE MOHICANS clicked off safe onto fully automatic. Mark also shows some real chops acting wise. Great gravitas that made you believe that his unit would follow him into battle. Why he doesn't get these roles more often is beyond me. That's not to say this movie isn't without it's problems. Like whats up with all the plane shots from the nightly news? I mean whoever made this thing obviously knows how to make action look real -- and let pros like Mark do what he does best -- but the plane stuff and CGI are laughable. It looks like they stole the plane from the video game my dad plays on his Atari in the basement. And why is the Colonel talking all the time just repeating what we already know from watching the movie? I was like - no kidding Sherlock. All in all, I say get this if you like to see stuff blow up, watch guys go down with spin kicks, and want a little acting with your action. There is some real BAND OF BROTHERS moments that I liked, especially with some guy named Steve Cryin, I think. Hard to tell from the titles which screamed low budget. But even with the budget, the shots showed real visual flare. BOONDOCK SAINTS this isn't, but I would put the best stuff in that category.
